Having thought this for many years, I applaud Mr. Carlson for speaking out. Globalsim, Socialism are not the USA.
A must for anybody who's in to the rise of humanism , the media-revolution and the circle of events surrounding Erasmus of Rotterdam in the 1500's ! ! ! 🤓
Did not know there was a ship of fools. But the book is well written and great and very interesting
I had difficulty understanding the poetry-type writing
I was a bit shocked to discover that this edition of the book was in Middle English. Somehow, I missed that in the product description. I do not find it hard to read, but the Middle English is not annotated and I probably would not have purchased it if I had known that I would have to slog through opaque old spellings and the like.
The book itself is an interesting read, not as amusing as I had hoped. I am concerned that the translation may not be accurate--my doubts arises because the text mentions separate courts of law and equity, and I would be surprised to learn that there was such a separation in Germany at the time that Ship of Fools was written. However, it is my understanding that this translation was a successful publication in English, regardless of how true it is (or is not) to the original. So, I am happy to have read it.
This book is a lot of fun reading about all the different types of fools Brant comes up with. Thank you Dover for publishing this version.

Ponder each rhyme, learn mankind's curse, and see yourself in every verse.
